U-Visas: Reaching the Cap

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services announced this week that they have reaching the fiscal year limit for U-Visas. There is an annual limit of 10,000 visas available for primary applicants per year. This is the third year that the cap has been reached. A new fiscal year will begin on October 1, 2012.  Historically, USCIS continues to adjudicate these applications and grants the successful applicants deferred action status until a U-Visa is available.
